Stimulating software for even the tiniest of tots…

Well, just because summer is here {almost}, doesn’t mean you aren’t going to run into some rainy days here and there that are going to require some parental imagination, just to keep the children from becoming bored to tears {literally}. I know both my one & three year olds get cranky and whiny, and just plain miserable if they aren’t properly stimulated all day long.
So here’s a creative alternative to playing with play dough, kid-friendly baking, watching tv or reading a book. Clicktoy Interactive, Inc. is a parent-run company that produces wonderful animated software that safely turns your PC into a toy for preschoolers. As they put it, it’s like creating a “safe computer playpen” where little kids can touch any key on the keyboard, for any length of time, and you don’t have to worry about a thing!
In The Meadow, the first game in the Clicktoy series, children find themselves inside a colorful, movie-like landscape filled with lovable animals and the sounds of nature. At the touch of any key, the environment springs to life, allowing players to navigate and interact with the animals, nature, or create their own music. Yes, we have the software download, and yes we played with it for a loooong time this evening! The graphics are definitely stimulating, and I even found myself oohing and ahhing with my kids at times throughout our game. Poor Colin, always being told not to touch Mommy’s keyboard, was beside himself when I said he could push any button he wanted for as long as he wanted. He seriously sat there for a minute to comprehend this newfound freedom!

Thank you so much for such a great review. I’m so happy your son enjoyed the game so much. Your last few sentences grasped one of the key points I considered when designing the game - the computer is not sacred. If properly handled, anyone can use it safely.
